The Rapid Test
This is an antibody test designed to identify lgM and lgG antibodies though a finger stick blood drop test using a lancet. The amount of blood tested is very small approx 1.5 micro litres (It takes approx 240,000 drops to make a cup).
Same Day
Positive test results are notified by 9pm on the day of the test by phone so that you can ask the qualified medical staff questions. If you have not received a call by 9pm you can assume that your results are negative.
Incubation Period
lgM antibodies appear within 2-5 days of symptom onset and lgG antibodies appear 7-10 days after symptom onset. Hence, testing is best done at least 7 days after possible infection.
Validity
This test was validated using 602 clinically positive and negative patients' blood samples that were confirmed using RT-PCR. Sensitivity is 89.4% and Specificity is 97.7%. If test results and symptoms warrant, a genetic RT-PCR test should also be performed.
Please arrive promptly and remember to bring your drivers license with you.
